Is Watchtower now loosening the bedroom rules?
by OneGenTwoGroups ini was at my assembly when this was discussed last week.
of course i hadn't prepared and i heard "no rules about limits", or at least i thought i did.. here's the direct quote from the watchtower study article.. "although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.
the watchtower (study edition) august 2016 : making christian marriage a success, paragraph 8.. what say you?.

Do as I say, not as I do
by LoveUniHateExams inand so it has come out that shami chakrabarti sent her son first to a prep school then on to prestigious dulwich college.
both institutions feature entrance exams and fees (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3839975/shami-chakrabarti-embroiled-new-education-row-emerges-sent-son-18-000-prep-school.html).
she joins other people of the left who oppose grammar schools but sent their own sprogs to selective, exclusive schools: polly toynbee, seumus milne, diane abbot and harriet harman.

If nothing else they value education as a prerequisite for a fulfilling life but hypocrisy is inexcusable. The politician speaks for the poor but acts like the privileged because privileged they are!
Even the political left know that society is best served by good education. Eighty years ago it was the public school* intellectuals who supported communism until the disenchantment came with Stalin.
*Note for those in north America; the use of 'public school' here in Britain perversely means 'private school' (that is public or fee charging school as opposed to the free of charge state school).

Millions now living will never die (orginally "may" never die) was the WTS lying
by blondie inthis was first said in 1918 and adjusted to "will never die" in 1920. of course, the wts taught that the anointed had to die to go to heaven; but there was no great crowd teaching then, so they were talking about all non-anointed people on earth.
the wts members were known as bible students then and had been expecting the end in 1914 and it was adjusted.
one date that was stressed at that time was 1925. so i think they idea was that people living in 1918 would be alive to see the end in 1925, which of course did not happen.

"Millions now living may/will never die"
Pricks up ears, thinks: "What; never die?" I would like to know about this...Goes to meeting and finds hundreds of other punters duped into thinking the same way...
It says it in the "Sacred revealed word of God; the Holy Bible written by the author who never lies!" The speaker said so, so hell! it must be true...
...............Or is it just the spiel of the snake oil salesman?
Surely this is the whole JW story; the lure of everlasting life in paradise, join the culture of blind obedience followed up by crippling social penalties if you dare to change your mind.
It was just the scam message from a Bible-cult folks................ heartily congratulate yourself if you have woken up and escaped!

New, but needed to vent- thank you :-)
by Danni Jackson ini discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.

Hi Danni, thanks for visiting here, you are most welcome.
The love JW`s show is conditional love
as Smiddy says above. It only appears like "love" if you praise the governing body...the slightest whiff of disagreement and you will be unlovingly be cast out out on your ear.Real life outside the org has problems as well but there is no hypocrisy like religious hypocrisy.
Honest said,
be a true unconditional friend. Your friend will be feeling humiliated, degraded, ashamed and lonely. An act of loving kindness can save someone.
That is real friendship

So very sad for this family and if they are to wake up from their religious delusion in the future, how much more tragic it will be to realize that the death of their loved one was avoidable.
The JW org should be held to account for all of the deaths encouraged by pushing the no-blood dogma with its reckless disregard for precious human lives.
The world must learn how dangerous this cult is.

Life after Armageddon in the new world A Paradise ? You be the Judge.
by smiddy inmost , if not all of jw`s expect it to be paradise ,immediately.. how wrong can they be.. 8 billion + corpses lying around , oh thats right jehovah the magician will fix that with a wave of his wing.. their will not be education above 4th grade as higher education is frowned upon.. women will be restricted to sewing weaving and looking after their husbands needs , and looking after all the children being born to her husband and being in subjection to him.. how many women are in high profile positions in the world today ,including leaders of countries ,and other positions of power and influence ,even in male dominated fields of bygone years .. that will all be gone in the new system ,where women will be put in their place.. children will be forbidden from compettitive sports as thats not permitted anymore , no more tv games ,no more video games , no more just about anything that normal teenagers engage in today.. and no more tv except jw.org tv worldwide with no other channells.
with higher education off the table society is going to slowly sink back to the dark ages and even the stone age.. think about it .
no research in anything , not medical , scientific ,the arts music ,literature ,paintings space ,astronomy etc.etc.,simply because its not necessary now , why ?

Smiddy, as you point out when it comes down to the details it would be a Taliban hell...
Fact is, it's just a dream, the Watchtower "paradise" is just a lure for the gullible to commit their lives to the cult leaders.

Robrog, thanks for coming here and well done in your desire for searching for what is right . You are twenty six, so you have had time to realize that there is actually more to life than religion.
May I direct you to the possibility that religion is a political scheme of control based on the susceptibility of human nature towards a mystical resolution of all earthly problems.
Have you considered that your introduction reveals that you are prepared to accept as truth only the things you will agree with such as the baseless notion that the Bible is inerrant and inspired by God?
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Does becoming (or remaining) one of Jehovah's Witnesses result in Poverty? Pew Research results differ from Watchtower claims.
by Balaamsass2 in"raised in the truth" during the 50s, 60s,and 70s i repeatedly read and heard from the platform how reading the magazines weekly "was the equivalent of a college education" and how many had turned their family economic situation around by being "trustworthy" and giving up expensive bad habits most "worldly people" had.
sounded good.. what is the reality?
how does avoiding higher education, and then spending up to 20 hours a week getting ready for, commuting, and then participating in meetings and field service affect family finances?.

LongHairGal said,
"Many Witnesses fall into the category of those who are just about making ends meet. They are hampered by the fact that they do not have a college degree, which is necessary in today's world".
And it seems this is almost the exemplary form of JW culture; "followers" being forced by their poverty to remain dependent throughout their lives on the very doubtful wisdom and authority of the GB.
